Fireplaces VENTED VS. VENT-FREE GAS LOGS

Gas fireplace logs are an ideal choice for anyone who wishes to enjoy the warmth and beauty of a fire without the chores of hauling wood and cleaning ashes. You can choose either a vented or vent-free style, depending on your heating and decorating needs.

VENTED GAS LOGS: Vented gas logs best mimic real wood fires. They create the look of an authentic wood fire with their beautiful dancing yellow flames and glowing embers. Because of the venting, the yellow flames wrap in and around the refractory logs, giving the appearance that they are on fire. Like wood, vented gas logs introduce radiant heat into the room; but a portion of that heat is lost up the chimney. Vented gas logs are designed to be used in an existing brick or masonry Class A fireplace and must only be used with the damper or flue in the OPEN position. Most models are available with either natural gas or propane burner systems. Vented gas logs are the perfect choice if you desire the beauty and elegance of a wood fire, but aren’t looking for an alternative heat source.

VENT-FREE GAS LOGS: Vent-Free gas logs are designed specifically for heat. Our Vent-Free gas logsets operate at a 99% energy efficiency, ensuring a clean burn and maximizing fuel efficiency to produce heat. They can be installed either in an existing masonry fireplace with the damper CLOSED or in a Vent-Free firebox with a prefabricated cabinet mantle. No special venting is required. Vent-Free logs also feature a yellow flame; however, the flames are positioned between the logs and do not have actual contact with the logs. Vent-Free gas logs are equipped with an ODS (Oxygen Depletion Sensor), which constantly monitors the oxygen level in the room as an additional safety feature. Vent-Free gas logs are the perfect choice if you desire an extra source of heat.
